Add Text Box to PDF

Quickly add a text box to your PDF documents using pdfFiller's online editor.

What is a Text Box in a PDF?

A text box in a PDF is a designated area where you can input text. This functionality is essential for annotations and comments, allowing users to provide feedback or additional information directly on the document. Text boxes are applicable to various document types, making them ideal for small businesses that need to annotate contracts, invoices, or reports without complex software. By using annotation tools, you can enhance the clarity of your documents and facilitate communication with colleagues or clients.

Why Use a Text Box in Your PDF?

Using a text box in your PDF enhances document clarity by allowing you to highlight important information or provide comments. This feature facilitates collaboration among team members, making it easier to share insights and feedback. Implementing text boxes is straightforward, requiring no advanced technical skills, which supports various professional tasks, from filling out forms to reviewing reports. By incorporating text boxes, you can improve the overall effectiveness of your digital documents.

  5. 5.

Managing Your Text Box Annotations

To manage your text box annotations effectively, start by selecting the text box you wish to edit. You can easily resize the box by dragging its corners, allowing for adjustments to fit your content. If a text box is no longer needed, you can delete it by selecting the box and choosing the delete option. Best practices for annotations include keeping comments concise and relevant, ensuring that your feedback is clear and actionable for others reviewing the document.

Common Use Cases for Text Boxes

Text boxes are beneficial in various scenarios, such as annotating contracts to highlight key terms or conditions. They can also be used for filling out forms where additional information is required. Providing feedback on reports is another common use case, allowing reviewers to add comments directly on the document. Collaborative document reviews benefit from text boxes, as they enable multiple team members to share their insights in a structured manner.

Supported File Formats for Text Boxes

Text boxes are supported in standard PDF format, allowing users to annotate documents effectively. When exporting annotated PDFs, ensure that the output format retains the text box features. Compatibility with scanned documents may vary, so it's essential to check if your scanned files support text box annotations. Limitations on file types may apply, so always verify the format before attempting to add text boxes.

How Does pdfFiller Compare with Other PDF Tools?

When comparing pdfFiller to Adobe Acrobat, it is clear that Adobe offers comprehensive PDF editing features but can be complex for new users. The tradeoff is a higher cost and a steeper learning curve compared to pdfFiller. Smallpdf presents a simple interface for basic tasks, making it ideal for quick edits, but it has limited advanced features compared to pdfFiller. PDF Expert is strong on Mac with an intuitive design and features, yet it is less effective on Windows and lacks some collaboration tools.

Next Steps After Adding a Text Box

After adding a text box, the next step is to save the document to ensure all changes are preserved. You can then explore sharing options to distribute the PDF to colleagues or clients. Integrating your document with e-signature workflows can streamline the approval process. Finally, reviewing annotations with team members can enhance collaboration and ensure that all feedback is addressed before finalizing the document.

Much better than last year. But the pages slide badly -- need one page at a time to finish rather than slipping from page to page as I try to work on just one.

What do you like best?
The ablitiy to be able to edit documents in PDF format is great. Saving time. When we are bidding on a job i can use the form provided to us from the client. Very easy to use and has worked well ever time I have neede it. Another great feature is that the PDF filler is auto saved in your online profile... so you can take the documents with you.
What do you dislike?
some times when you go to open the PDF from my email directly... it does not up load... so then I have to down load the pdf on to my computure, open PDF fill web app then upload file..... not sure why it does this but it has happened more often lately than it did before.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It would be great if the filler could be able to authenticate docuements, a big one for us is Bonding, When we submit a bond they require an e-bonding ( look it up) the ebond authenicates the signatures from 3 different parties and leave a digital paper trail that can be confrimed by the client. We recently had to do this and the one website mobile bonds.com has an interface that is not user freindly for set up... and we had to spend countless time with the tech on the phone for the first few bonds. If the filler is able to do this that would be great.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Allowing us to make our bid proposals look great, avoid hand writing in documents, setting us apart from the rest. we also can share the file with my staff making it even better

Very good service Very good service. I used it once to fix my resume and forgot to cancel. Accidentally subscribed for an annual subscription so was shocked to see $321 come out of my account. That was all the money I had. I got in touch with the customer support team and they refunded the money and cancelled my subscription immediately. 10* customer service - love you PDFFiller!
